Louisville offers a wide range of housing and
neighborhood options. Whether you are single and looking for a
fast-pased urban setting or you are starting a family and you
want a laid back rural environment, you can find it in Louisville.
Downtown Louisville is currently going to a major
revitalization with brand new high end condo's, wonderful restaurants,
new businesses and entertainment. Fourth Street Live has turned
downtown into a prime destination for night life with all new
restaurants and bars. The new Muhammad Ali Center, Waterfront
Park and the upcoming addition of the U of L basketball arena
will only make downtown Louisville a larger attraction for singles
and families looking for culture and convenience.
Located just south of downtown, near the University
of Louisville, you will find an area known as Old Louisville.
This area has the third largest US Historic Preservation District,
while also claiming the top spot for the largest concentration
of Victorian architecture in the country.
Just east of downtown is the Highlands area, known
for their charming tree lined neighborhoods, historic homes built
in the late 1800's and early 1900's, diverse residents, boutique
shopping and top restaurants.
Further east, the areas of St. Matthews and Crescent
Hills offers a wonderful mix of residential neighborhoods and
commercial businesses. These areas have always been a highly desirable
area because of its rural feel but still close to downtown. Crescent
Hills offers great restaurants and small family-owned shops, while
St. Matthews is one of the main east end commercial thoroughfares
consisting of all your major retailers including Louisville two
largest malls (Oxmoor Center and Mall St. Matthews).
If your looking for something a little further
away from downtown, Louisville offers extensive options for quiet
family-friendly subdivisions where you are never more than fifteen
minutes from your destination. Mostly located near the Jefferson
County borders, these new construction communities range in price
from the low 100's to over a million depending on the subdivision,
and many are currently being built, giving you the option of selecting
your own floor plans, materials and features.
Of course, we have only scratch the surface regarding
the different areas of Louisville, while not even mentioning the
surrounding counties including the high desireable Oldham County.
Each area is different and prices range greatly.
With cost of living lower in Louisville than most
cities its size and the wide range of housing and neighborhood,
it no wonder why so many people are making Louisville their new
home.
